When training a dog, it is best to make training a game.

The more fun the dog has during training, the more eager the dog will be to please the trainer.  The Ivan Balabanov method makes training a game for the dog. The more fun you can make the training the quicker the dog will learn. For instance, if you take a ball on a rope and engage your dog into a game of fetch. During the game you can incorporate leading into the game to teach your dog to heel off leash. The main thing that is important is to stay consistent, in all you do. If you are not consistent, you will only confuse your dog.
